Carl's Space

Ya know…the law sucks. I was sitting in my car and all of a sudden I hear a bang on my left door that startled me. It was a car door that hit my car. The girl was oblivious that she hit my car, and proceeded to give me a thumbs up. I pulled out and parked adjacent to the previous spot…and called the smartest person I know…my mom. So Mom said to pretty much get a police report and have this incident reported to submit to insurance (my mom being a paralegal) but I didn’t want to go that far. I was just upheaved at the disconcerting attitude of this woman. She didn’t want to deal with it and neither did I. Her husband/boyfriend was with her…and he was a bit more friendly than she. Anyway I took her number, they took mine, and they told me they’d call me. I got their plate number at least…I never called the cops. I don’t get stepped on without doing something about it.

So I’ve been wondering…why the hell is anyone playing World of Warcraft and paying a subscription fee…while there are so many MMO’s that are great, and sometimes even better than WoW!  I mean take Runes of Magic for example…it’s free and exactly like WoW but better!  I mean dual classes…cmon they kick ass.  It’s like WoW mixed with the dual class system so popular in FFXI.  I wanna b a lvl 55 Warrior/NIN BLMMTHRFCKR!!!

Thought for Food: Imagining Food Consumption Reduces Actual Consumption (Science Daily)

psychotherapy:

If you’re looking to lose weight, it’s okay to think about eating your favorite candy bar. In fact, go ahead and imagine devouring every last bite — all in the name of your diet.

A new study by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, published in Science, shows that when you imagine eating a certain food, it reduces your actual consumption of that food. This landmark discovery changes the decades-old assumption that thinking about something desirable increases cravings for it and its consumption.

Drawing on research that shows that perception and mental imagery engages neural machinery in a similar fashion and similarly affect emotions, response tendencies and skilled motor behavior, the CMU research team tested the effects of repeatedly imagining the consumption of a food on its actual consumption. They found that simply imagining the consumption of a food decreases ones appetite for it.

“These findings suggest that trying to suppress one’s thoughts of desired foods in order to curb cravings for those foods is a fundamentally flawed strategy,” said Carey Morewedge, an assistant professor of social and decision sciences and lead author of this study. “Our studies found that instead, people who repeatedly imagined the consumption of a morsel of food — such as an M&M or cube of cheese — subsequently consumed less of that food than did people who imagined consuming the food a few times or performed a different but similarly engaging task. We think these findings will help develop future interventions to reduce cravings for things such as unhealthy food, drugs and cigarettes, and hope they will help us learn how to help people make healthier food choices.”

This is quite a discovery.

Omg omg omg Epic Mickey on the Wii. I still get excited about these new games. I don’t own a game system anymore, not since I started playing WoW. Just got to lvl 80 btw.

I have decided…

To use this blog as my WoW blog. Things that will be posted here will be mostly about WoW.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

This is a little recording I made with my LG Ally in Android with the app called VirtualRecorder.  It’s a great app and I finally learned how to convert the files created into an mp3…it took a little research and fiddling around with Audacity.

It’s a bit of Brown Eyed Girl and a blues jam at the end.  Hahahahaha so great.  Enjoy.

Jaco the chicken notes

I wonder how Jaco Pastorius composed “The Chicken”.  Was he conforming to the horns by writing it in Bb?  It’s definitely an interesting chord progression when you think about it.

It’s funky.

Here’s the chord progression:

Bb x4 - the tonic

Eb x2 - the 4th

D, G - then the major 3rd, and the major 6th to Bb (also the 4th of D)

C x4 - the 2nd of Bbmajor, the 4th of Gmajor, and then back to

Bb

Bb, Ab, F, Eb, C#, Bb, Ab…..Bb

Omfg didn’t I learn from the first time this happened? I ran outta gas and I’m stuck on the side of the road. At least I’m on sort of a side street. I panicked when the car wouldn’t move, and with the engine not working the power brakes were gone, so I had to really keep my foot on the brake pedal w/ all my might.
